I have had a beginner Bounty Hunter Detector for several years and hunted with it infrequently until about six months ago. I then realized, that I lived and worked in an area that had some of the earliest settlements in Indiana, where there could be some good potential for old coins.

With that realization, I jumped into coin hunting with both feet. Since October 2004, I have purchased a Bounty Hunter Sharpshooter, White's Classic IV, and most recently Minelab Sovereign Elite, all from Kellyco. Although I haven't found much silver, I have found some impressive old pennies in the short time I have been hunting seriously. I think my favorite piece so far is the piece of eight, which was crusted up that I didn't have a clue as to what it was. I carried it in my coat pocket for weeks until I cleaned it one day, thinking it was some kind of medallion. The piece with the date is gone but from the other markings, I believe it to have been minted sometime in the very late 1700s to the very early 1800s.
