EQ2 Excelerator 16.5 Coil Test Story

All of the treasures shown below are items that our customers have either brought to Kellyco to show us or have emailed us their pictures. As you can see, a metal detector can unearth some of the worlds most beautiful treasures and bring a lifetime of excitement.

The weather here in Mass. finally has allowed me to get out with my Explorer 2 and the new EQ2 Excelerator 16.5 coil. This coil seems to be very well made and my initial tests in my coin garden were very favorable. The coil had no problem blasting in all coin signals including my silver quarter from 12 inches down.




I just got permission to detect a 1800's house with a large yard.
Thinking to myself this would be a great place to test the new 16.5 Excelerator coil I started working the front lawn . I got a nice reading about 11 inches down , which to my surprise turned out to be a Post Revolution War Mass Militia Volunteer Button made by Kendrick & Co. Waterbury . I was liking this coil already! I hunted the front yard for about two hours pulling pieces of brass and lead from depths of 10 to 12 inches. I walked over to the field along side the house that would end up yielded the majority of my finds.

In the field the 16.5 coil was easier to swing then I thought it would be. I made a variety of finds which included four 1800's flat buttons and a two 1940 nickels from the same hole which had to of been lost by the farmer? The back of a lock which I had to dig a foot to retrieve. Plus two wheat cents. This coil has proved to be a winner already as it gave great depth and the separation was good for a large coil.

Pinpointing was simple as I just dropped the signal off the front of the coil like I do on all DD coils.Keep up the good work Kellyco as this coil should prove a winner for the person who wants depth and great coverage.
