The past 20 years credit me some genuine finds.

Some examples are cannon balls, Spanish Reales, Civil and Revolutionary War relics as well as jewelry from beaches like working watches, sterling silver and gold rings. The gold rings were instantly taken almost before I could free them of the dirt by my lovely wife Junice. Which was okay since she supports my hobby. Plus not to mention hundreds of regular clad coins. All too much to mention or show.

I decided I wanted to upgrade from my old machine which was a Minelab Sovereign. It had 17 frequencies and a nice detector. Checking out Kellyco on their website, the Explorer II really caught my attention. Mainly because it has 28 frequencies, the folks at Kellyco sold my Sovereign for me which was very economical. This allowed me to use that money as a down payment towards my new metal detector.

The Kellyco staff is very well business orientated as well as accommodating. After receiving my Explorer II, I was very impressed with the engineering. I immediately did some yard experimentation by burying different objects and became slightly puzzled and in need of answers, which were quickly resolved over the phone. The Explorer II produced some fantastic finds, especially in those well hunted areas.

For years I always wanted to enter one of those beach hunting competitions. Well, this was my year (October 24, 2004). I entered the competition not knowing what to expect. Relying on 20 years of relic hunting experience and an excellent metal detector and hoping for the best of course. I won First Place prize, a gold coin at the Tidewater Coin and Relic Competition held at Virginia Beach this year. Also silver coins, Liberty Half, and clads. Needless to say I was overwhelmed with excitement. It was a long drive getting there, I couldn't wait to tell my wife. I am thankful to God above all things.

First day out with the Explorer II I unearth a sterling silver ring in an area that was well hunted. Several points of interest makes this machine a winner. Superb discrimination. It almost virtually eliminates junk, the stem is cordless allowing the user to hunt more effectively in heavy brush or wooded areas without cord entanglement. Also stability and much more. Personally I strongly recommend the Minelab Explorer II and Kellyco period! Whether your are beach hunting for coins and jewelry, or relic hunting in the woods. For the metal detector enthusiast.
