5000 years old bronze axe head

Today after finding a 1863 Victorian penny, I then found a musket ball and a couple of modern coins, as I was walking back towards my home after one hours detecting, on my last signal of the day I began to dig and dig, then eventually at about 16 inches down I noticed the object at the bottom. After taking it out of the ground I realised that what I had found was a bronze axe head. After returning home I took it to an expert who informed me that it was between 4500-5000 years old.

Praise for Excellent Product

On December 27, 2013 I was involved in a deadly log truck accident which required UAB Life Flight to send a medical evac helicopter to the scene to save my life. After staying in the ICU and being discharged home, I began the journey to as normal a life as I can achieve. As one may imagine, rehabilitation and the depression of now being disabled has been a major obstacle for me. In late January of this year, a close friend came by and said "you need to get out the house and do something to cheer yourself up". On this particular day it was warm and quite sunny, so to my surprise he pulled out his metal detector and said "let&...

Hidden Cache Treasures

Back track about 2.5 years ago... I hunted an old German homestead. I was able to find some coins, medallions and Nazi WWI and II items The home was being redone and some parts have been remodelled, torn out or completely torn down, The first was an old barn that I found the first items. Now to the present... Part of the inner structure of the house was being worked on. The owner agreed to let us detect and look around again. After finding nothing but spiders and dead mice...

Caution Explosive

Greetings to all colleagues,

probably disappoint you all, because this was not a real big valuable treasure find for a lot of money. However, I believe that each one of us (hunters) has a story of success and so I decided to share mine.

A Ring of Destiny

Last Sunday I went to an organised dig about 10 miles north from Perth in Scotland. The day was looking promising. Sun was shining, surroundings were superb with a scenic views of Scottish hills. There were around 60 people detecting the same fields on that day. A week before there was a lot of hammered found in this area so I was really looking forward to it.

Rewriting History

was working the mud flats along the Gorge waterway here in Victoria BC with my CTX 3030. The first hit was a 1891 fishscale nickle, so called because of their small size, and then a faceless silver dime. My next keeper was a 1917 large cent. The final keeper as the tide was coming in was a 1551-1553 Shilling. If this coin was dropped by one of Drake's crew it could ad credence to the theory that Drake did indeed visit Vancouver Island between 1577 and 1580.

Early Gold Rush Coins and Relics

Had a once in a lifetime hunt in the Victorian Goldfields with the CTX 3030 finding a dozen silver coins. Given how hot the ground is the CTX 3030 is the only machine that I would rely on to get these great targets. Also have these finds logged as find points for future hunts.

Gold Noble, Groats, Pennies and a Denarius!

I was lucky enough to be invited to detect a site that had produced a scattered hoard several years ago by a good friend as it had just been ploughed. we set out with gusto in the area but after two hours had nothing, trying a dark area of soil a sweet low signal revealed a broken Roman silver Denarius! Not what we were looking for but only my second and very welcome.

Australian Internment Camp Tokens

A few months back I purchased a CTX 3030 as a back up to my GPX 5000 for when I come across old areas that appear to have had much past activity.

Initially I struggled with usage the CTX 3030, and this is a person who started in the 1980's with a Garrett and feel very comfortable with detectors in general and the use there of...
However I battled on with the CTX 3030 and decided to take a lesson in the operations of the detector offered by Andrew Gladdis at Coiltek in Maryborough Victoria.

International Relations Ring Return

I went to Florida for a few months for some decent vacation. Another beautiful day as I arrived at the beach about noon. A lifeguard I know came over to say hello. He says someone lost the wedding ring a few minutes ago at station 12. I said I would go look. When I got there, there was another guy with an Excalibur already hunting in the water. I talked to the other lifeguard and she pointed out the person that lost their ring. He was from Argentina on vacation with wife and child.
