As told to Kellyco; On only his third day using his new Fisher CZ-21 Metal Detector, Hank, in water a bit over waist high heard the sound all metal detectorists, love to hear, the sound of a good target located in the warm water off a Florida East Coast beach. In January 2010. Doctor told Hank he better do something about his health. Dr. said "start exercising and watch what you eat" and lose some weight. So Hank tried walking for exercise which as he says "is pretty boring". He then decided to try metal detecting to make walking a little more exciting. A week or so ago, my wife and I were shopping at a local store when we met a friend of ours who works at Kellyco. During our conversation he mentioned that they were expecting a new 8X6 Butterfly Coil for the Garrett's Ace 250 and 150. I ask him to call me when they came in as both my wife and one of my sons have 250s. He called the other day to tell me they were in and yesterday, Friday, I went to pick one up. I ask him if he thought it would work on my "OLD 550"? We checked it out on one of the 550s in the store and it looked like it would work. Now my "OLD 550" is the first machine I started with back in 2005. It has been through many battles all over this nation....

I have heard a lot of treasure stories about people having great finds. In fact, several years ago I sent you an article about a $9,500 diamond ring I found. Well, I have another interesting happening this last spring of 2009. I have been rather busy so just got around to sending you the story. I live in Northern Vermont so the treasure hunting season is confined to warm weather; however, the first week of February, 2009 an interesting thing happened. Over 15 years ago, while painting the eves of our house, I went to wipe off the paint running down my hand and my ring went flying off. I was up high on a shed roof, so I saw it roll down and off the end of the roof. Over the next few months, there were many attempts to find it, crawling on the ground and pushing the grass around. Just recently I purchased a GARRETT 250 from KELLYCO, put it together, read the instructions, watched the dvd and within a half hour of looking...Wallah! Found the ring...old paint still on it...AMAZING...couldn’t be happier...think I found a new hobby. It was all new to me and I found the dvd extremely helpful...

I started with this hobby about a year ago, a good friend now that lives in our village showed me his finds and took us out on a detecting trip. My first find with his detector (Garrett GTI 2500) was a musket ball, I think after a year searching I've about 300 of them! A week later I bought my Garrett ACE 250. While I was metal detecting in England in the Spring 2010, using a Minelab Explorer SE I happened to dig a very interesting target. First, I have to tell you the make-up of the day. It was late March and one of the wettest Springs in their history. Needless to say there was a lot of rain. This particular day was no exception. I am 12 years old and I have a Bounty Hunter Lone Star that I got for Christmas. I live in Montclair NJ. I usually dig on Elm st on this hill where people usually have picnics. I hope to find my first silver coin there but usually just find clad change and 1800s nails. When I was driving past it I saw that across the street was a gazebo and a little garden.
