My Best Find

A buddy and I were detecting in southern California looking for gold nuggets and had a great time and found a railroad agate marble from the 1885-1890. The marble was used to move the ore carts in to the train car for transport to the mill site. It was not metal but I would not have found it without my metal detector sweeping the ground.

Love my X-TERRA 705

Got out tonight. So passing in town and I noticed the pond in town was very low due to the drought. So the park I super busy. I asked the town guy who cleans the park and he gave me a trash bag and said get as much trash out and knock your socks off. I cleaned up about 20 cans and tons of bee caps but I had a stellar day. No ring no silver but I got 25.06 in clad with 60 quarters 73 dime 15 nickels and over 100 pennies. I found some cool stuff a part of a old cap gun and a old tooties car. This was half of the pond I am hitting the other half tomorrow. I never would have guessed that people throw change in there. I am hoping for a ring tom...

1853 Trime

I had been wanting to hunt a heavily hunted area (Court House) and took a chance. First trip the ground was bone dry and I was pulling up on Memorial Penny's then got a good sounding signal that was a repeatable 40 with my 9" Concentric 3.0kHz Minelab coil. I'm thinking I want a Barber so bad, and I see the glint of silver ... I'm so excited but only expecting at best a Merc but it wasn't, wasn't a Barber either but a Seated Dime. Blowed right past the Barber.

800 Year Old King Stephen Silver Penny

Armed with my trusty Minelab X-TERRA 705 I attended a metal detecting club dig in Oxfordshire, England where we had access to extremely old farm land with huge selection of fields. After a few hours of detecting, I noticed that everyone was avoiding one particular area in the largest field. I wandered over and soon realised that this section was full of iron fragments.

A Tsunami of Coins

A very warm day was expected. Like every day at 12 during my break time, I would take out my X-TERRA 705 for a walk in the fields with the kind permission of the local producers.

However, when I arrived at the car, it was so warm that I told myself that I better have my meal at the edge of the water where its shady and leave my detector in the trunk. But of course I couldn’t resist to do some detecting.

First Timer

I've wanted to have my own metal detector since I was a youngster. Finally at 36, I decided it's time to get one. I've never used a metal detector in my life but did some research and decided that Minelab products were the right place to start, and the X-TERRA 705 was the right detector to start with.

USA Silver a Long Way From Home - in NZ

Last month I was out with my trusty X-TERRA 705 in a local Auckland park. I had two silver finds that day, one a 1939 Silver NZ 3d coin and the other was unbelievably a 1918 Winged Mercury Silver dime!

One Kilogram of Gold

A few years ago, during the banking crisis, a person was given some very poor advice. He was told that ‘if a bank went bust, anything in a deposit box would be lost’. Unfortunately he believed this and immediately withdrew his valuables. He then had an idea. If he buried some of the valuables in his mother in laws garden they would be safe and easily recovered when required. A good plan with only one slight drawback! It is necessary remember precisely where the object was buried. This is where I come in.

X-TERRA 705 Hits Nice Gold Ring From the Saltwater Rocks

I was testing out a new X-TERRA 6" Double-D - 19.75kHz coil I just received from my friend Kevin (neswiper) and while testing in the rocky area on the Chesapeake bay the new coil was able to find a nice ring mixed in with the rocks and all the iron. this was the main reason for me trying the new coil for use in the rocky zone.
