Metal Detecting, Families and Holidays

During Thanksgiving week 2017, I was at my daughter’s bay house located on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay in Point Clear, Alabama. In the 1950’s the main house was built on stilts on top of the original 1920’s concrete block home! I felt that there may be some opportunities to find some old coins, etc. I took my White’s TreasureMaster that I had recently bought from Kellyco and with hopes of doing a little “detecting.” I got my detector out and began searching in the side yard next to the house and started hitting various coins and other targets at about 10”- 12” down. I started digging and ran into a mass of roots. I had a hand digger and cutter but no shovel. I decided to make another trip at a later date with the proper tools to remove my finds.
My three grandchildren had never seen a detector and were fascinated by my new hobby. They were with me step by step for several hours. They worked with me using their hands to “help Poppy.” Much to my surprise, my daughter had taken a picture that shows the real treasures in the relationships that can be found in metal detecting.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to ALL… Don’t forget your metal detector during the holidays and the true treasures that you may find.
