A big hug for my Minelab

I have always been interested in metal detecting. I was in the Army for 22 yrs and during that time I fooled around with an old coin master.
After I retired, I was diagnosed with COPD and found it difficult to walk around in hot weather. I bought a Minelab Excalibur II so that I could go into the water, it was easier for me and good exercise.
On July 3rd, I was standing in about five ft of water metal detecting the local swimming hole in Oxford, Ohio.
I found a class ring. It's a local High school about 30 miles away. I looked up the number and I contacted the school district and explained my hobby. I told her the initials from inside the ring.
Later that day the phone rings and a lady told me she was the grandmother of the young lady who lost the ring over a year ago. She explained that after her granddaughter lost her class ring, she lost her job and was unable to order a replacement. She said the family stayed in the water searching with their feet for hours, and finally gave up.
I love the find, but returning this was so enjoyable, I sure hope I can return more. My Minelab got a big hug, and a smile that's worth all the rings that I could ever find.
