A Trifecta of Firsts
02/21/16

Saturday April 9th, 2011, is a day I will not soon forget. It was finally a good day to MD here in the city of Pittburgh, PA. Mostly because of a break in the weather. Spring was on our doorstep and I was dying to step out. One of the oldest parks in the city is West Park on the northside of the city. They called this section of town. Old Allegheny. So being old, that is exactly where I wanted to be with my three week old E-TRAC.

Getting started at around 10AM, the first thing I noticed was all the trash around... wow. The next thing I noticed was a meter maid ticketing my car because I didn't fill the meter. Ouch $20.00. But that’s okay, because my day got better. I scored my first Indianhead penny, a 1898. Next, I scored my first V nickle a 1910, and my last find was a 1923 Silver Mercury Dime. Another first that morning was my first and second coins that were over 100 years old. The trifecta that morning allowed me to hold a coin I had never seen, or held in my life and I'm 63 now. I love this E-TRAC and how it sorted through that trash to give me my best day ever. Thank you Minelab.
