We got on a site 12 to 15 miles from downtown Savannah that yielded so many buttons and interesting relics. A few hundred buttons, 1830s era and some civil war era items. I recovered a beautiful Chatham Artillery "Don't Tread On Me" button, 2 Republican Blues buttons, 1812 Artillery button, 1830 USMC button, SC militia button, numerous Spanish reales, large cents, seated liberty coins, knee buckles, bullets. I dug 7 rare 1798 Naval Diplomat buttons. One buddy dug 2, the other 1 or 2 and another found by someone else. Unfortunately this spot has been shut off and any remaining history is gone forever.
