Awesome Detectors & Great Forums!

I started detecting in 2007 and found coins, jewelry and relics with both of White's top of the line detector's, the DFX and MXT. The most rewarding find was this GED ring found Jan 25th 08, in a local park with the MXT. It was 1 of five rings found that day and the best of the five, valued at approx. $250.00.The ring had the owner’s full name inscribed inside. It also had YCP on the one side of the ring. [split] With many tips from members on the "White's Metal Detector's Forum" and others I began searching the internet, found a site, the Louisiana National Guard sponsors called the "Youth Challenge Program". I called and talked with Major Capello who was more than happy to notify the rings owner and give him my phone number.
On Feb 6th 08, Brian called and asked if I was the guy that found his ring. To make a long story short, we met in a local parking lot and the ring and its very happy owner was reunited. He and his Dad offered a finder’s fee of which I turned down. The look on Brian's face was payment enough! He went home happy to have his ring back. I went home happy that I could be a part in getting it back to him.
