Civil War Coat Button ??

Hello, Just a small find, I found with my Garrett Ace 250 here in Addison IL. Close to Salt Creek I think it might be from the civil war? Im trying to get some info on it (see photos). I think it is made out of copper it is not magnetic it is about the size of a quarter. The front has USA on it and the back just has horizontal lines.
