Finding Treasure with My MXT

I have been an avid detector for the past seven or eight years and for the past four years I have use a White's MXT. I have found a lot of interesting, if not so valuable items in that time. One of my goals has been to find a piece of personal property that someone lost and be able to return it to them.

Last week I fulfilled the first part of the goal. While detecting in a local park with my MXT I found a 2010 high school class ring from a high school about 50 miles east of where I found the ring. The MXT didn't have to work too hard on this find as the ring and a chain with a heart shaped piece of jewelry were nestled in the grass and not buried at all.
While examining the ring I noticed a name engraved on the inside of the band so I contacted the secretary at the high school. As it turned out it is a small high school and the secretary knew the parents of the boy that lost the ring. I gave her my contact information and told her I would return the ring if the boy contacted me.
Two days later I got a call from an excited former student of the high school and he told me that his girlfriend had been wearing the ring around her neck and had lost it over a month ago. He was so thrilled that the ring was found that he agreed to drive the 50 miles from where he lived to my house to retrieve the ring.
Today I fulfilled the second part of my goal...returning the ring to the boy and his girlfriend. Finding treasures with my White's MXT is a thrill but it's also a thrill to return a cherished piece to personal property to someone who lost it and thought it was gone forever!
