Fisher F-75 Finds Civil War Relics Right Out of the Box
02/21/16
I've been a metal detectorist for over 30 years now, but two hours out with my Fisher F-75 delivered my favorite and best find to date.
My F-75 was literally right out of the box, and all I had with me was a digging shovel. I was out on some private property (with permission of course) and the ground was dry and hard.
Now, having been an excavating contractor in the early 70's, I was familiar with various types of ground soil. The company I worked for all those years ago had bought a metal detector to locate underground utilities and when it didn't work as they wanted I bought it from them. I lived beside and hunted "The Battle of Cedar Creek" battlefield for many years thereafter and have educated myself greatly about Civil War relics.
So you can imagine how surprised and elated I was to dig 10" into dry, hard ground and pull out a Confederate CS tongue belt buckle! I immediately knew what it was from my prior research into Civil War relics, and in the area I found several Confederate States buttons. No one was with me for this great find, so I immediately called a relic hunting buddy of mine by cellphone to share the good news. I've found Civil War bullets at this site before, but I plan on going back for more, soon!
