I took a friend of mine to a golf course permission that is a known trail dating back to 1812 and earlier. We never could've imagined what my friend would pull near the reconstructed house site. The coin is a Carolus III Spanish Reale. It is my friend's first Reale and oldest silver coin to date. It also puts him into the 1700 club which many detectorists only dream of achieving, including myself. I thought at first it was King Phillip II but upon more research found it to be the coin was Carolus III. I'm super stoked, and a little jealous. It's amazing to see one of these pulled from the ground first hand.
