Hanks White Gold Medallion
02/21/16
Hank is one of the lucky ones able to go treasure hunting as often as he wants. In January 2010. Doctor told Hank he better do something about his health. Dr. said "start exercising and watch what you eat" and lose some weight. So Hank tried walking for exercise which as he says "is pretty boring". He then decided to try metal detecting to make walking a little more exciting. Living close to the beach as Hank did made his new exercise program easier. Walking on the beach sand, swinging his new detector from Kellyco Metal Detectors three to four hours a day, his legs, arms and shoulders started to feel like they were getting the required exercise and he was losing weight and feeling better every day. Detecting in the water was also a workout in a different way, so Hank was well on his way following his Doctors orders, and he was having lots of fun at the same time.
[split] Hitting the beach as he usually does, Hank slid into the water as the morning was already hot and the weather report said it would be even hotter later in the day. Hank decided to work an area that he had really combed with a different model water detector and his first find was a rather inexpensive ring. Not bad in a "worked out area" Hank thought. Then another signal and what came up was a bright shining object flashing in the sunlight. At first glance it looked to be a medallion much larger then a religious medal although it had facial features and was well made Hank thought it was some inexpensive metal with glass chips around the entire piece. When Hank got home he decided to test the metal with his gold & silver test kit. Turns out the medallion was NOT inexpensive metal, and was not even silver as bright and shiny as it looked. The medallion turns out to be White Gold weighing 3 ounces. And, the "glass chips are all Diamonds!!! 370 small diamond chips! Who can even guess how valuable this find may be. Gold is averaging about $1200 an oz., diamonds have their own set of values. But Hank is very pleased with his find of a lifetime!
