M6 Scores at Church Yard!

02/21/16

Just wanted to write to you to tell you how sweet a detecting machine the Whites M6 is. I’ve had the M6 about 2 months now and have found lots of coins, many of them old.

The story I want to tell is about an old church yard. The church that once stood on this spot was founded in 1864 and was attended by my Dad in the 1920s through the 1940s. It was torn down in 1974. Since that time it has been hunted by detectorists very heavily and was thought to be hunted out. Since I was just learning how to use the M6, I decided to try the old church yard on the chance I’d find some “new coins”. The first time there I found 2 wheat pennies 1920 and 1925. Encouraged by this I went back and the next time I uncovered an 1877 CC Seated Liberty dime at 4”. It VDI’d at an odd 47.

This I think was because the dime was sitting on edge. Now I was really excited! In the next 3 or 4 hunting trips there, I found an 1893 Barber Quarter at 6” and an 1887 Indian head penny , an 1895 Indian and several more old wheat’s, not to mention a small ring and a 1920s Maytag washer token. I’ve still got a lot of the yard to hunt, so I’m sure there are more old coins to be found. There’s no doubt the M6 will sniff them out! 4 1800s coins from a spot that was supposed to be “hunted out”! This M6 is a Coin Magnet!!
