Military Dog Tag Returned

Published by Jessica M. on 02/21/16

The City where I live is tearing down several houses that are in a flood plain. Great hunting area since most houses were from the late 1800's. I started hunting a lot where a house was recently tore down. I got a nice signal And pulled a military dog tag. This is the first one for me and pretty exciting. The research begins soon as I got back home from detecting. I was lucky because the tag belong to someone from my hometown where I was hunting. I thought the tag was either from the Korean war or Vietnam era. I found his name & obituary on the web. He was born in 1930 and passed in 1967. Also listed was family in the obituary. I called three people and his brother called me back. He was very excited to hear I found it and glad I wanted to return it to the family. It turns out where I found it was where they had lived in the past. His brother is now 85 yrs. old & still lives in Kokomo. I will be giving it to him tomorrow.
