MXT Finds an Old 1820 Coin

First off I have too say WOW the MXT E-series metal detector is just plain amazing and a big THANK YOU goes out to you White’s for making such a awesome metal detector!! It all started one frosty/frigid morning I was hunting this old farm field from the 1700’s to early 1900’s. Targets were scarce and junk was all that was showing.

But then I got a button signal on my display and it was a fairly steady signal. I pinpointed it and it showed 8-9 inches, so I dug my plug and saw a round disc. At first I thought another button. Don’t get me wrong, I love finding buttons, but when I looked at it closer I knew it wasn’t. I could read the date 1820. I said to myself “What could it be?”
After about an hour more of detecting I decided it was time to go home. When I got home, I rinsed it with water and could see it clearly now. After some time researching it on the web, the disc finally got a name. It was a 1820 BUST and HARP token with 10 strings and it is the thin copper variety. I was very excited to dig a token that was 91 years old!!
