New Location Brings New Surprises

Saturday June 9 2012, I had to work today so I got out for a short hunt after work. It was hot and I wanted to stay in a shady area. I was a hunting a place I have never hunted before. I dug the usual trash and clad coins. I also dug two wheat cents and King George penny. Then a large sterling religious medal with Jesus on one side and Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus on the other.

I was happy with the Sterling medal and not really expecting much else after that. A few minutes later I got a good signal with my Safari. Though it seemed to be a bit large for a coin I figured I would be digging a smashed can. I dug down around 6 inches and pulled out the remnants of a rotted coin purse.

[split]

It looked like rotted cardboard. I picket it up and a mercury dime fell out. I rechecked the hole and found another merc had fell in the dirt pile I put the two coins back in what was left of the coin purse and went home. I carefully opened the coin purse and here are the contets. Very small fragments of a dollar bill. Four mercury dimes 1942, 1942, 1943D, 1945S and one rosie 1957D. Also Four wheats cents 44D, 45, 46D, 54D.
