Perfect End of a Season with My V3i

I have been an enthusiast metal detectorist for some years now and I want to share with you my finds from the last detecting trip of 2012. I was talking to a local farmer from my Central PA area and this old timer was very proud of his hundreds of acres of land that he has been farming since around 1950.

I asked him if he knew of an area of his fields that maybe an old building might have been standing in the past. He immediately brightened up and told me of a part of his land where foundation stones are in abundance. He gave me permission to detect whenever I want. I shook his hand, said goodbye and got excited to the prospect of a cool November hunt.

The next day I tackled that area where the foundation stones were prevalent. Right away I started to find the evidence of the building. After many flat buttons, square nails and the like, I ended my day with a nice 1822 Coronet Large cent, cut 1837 large and a decent 1810 Classic Head Half Cent.

My White’s V3i has a program that I modified to early American? Colonial that was singing out perfectly to every target that I found. I am quite happy with my detector. My brother is so impressed that he is ordering his V3i next week.
