Purpose of My V3i.

02/21/16

[split] I got permission to hunt a old 1700s property that has been many things over the years. Today it is a rooming house but in the past has been everything from a large farmhouse to a coach stop. So there's been many many people that have gone through there. When the owner gave me permission to hunt the grounds and told me that nobody else has ever metal detected it, I was thrilled. After a few hours of pulling only clad, I thought maybe the owner lied. But my would she have any reason to do that. So I went to my car and pulled out a silver quarter and buried it 6 inches deep. My thought was to sweep over it get the readings then set my machine up to find only silver quarters. Imagine my horror to find out that the machine that I was using at that time could not see the quarter only 6 inches deep. The ground mineralization was just that bad. I knew I needed a different machine so after a little research I decided to get a White's v3i. I got my White's V3i in February but the winter here in the northeast has been really bad. Today I finally got back to the property and started out using a reverse discrimination plan. I was in coin mode and holding the hand pointer trigger looking for the green bar to jump. I got such a jump, pinpointed it, and dugout a old Chinese coin. Then I got tired of holding the trigger so I used plain coin mode. My next find was a 1920 quarter than a 1946 Dime followed by 1941 quarter and another 1946 Dime. Turns out there is silver in the yard after all. I will be going back with my White's v3i and working that property good . What a difference the right machine can make.
