Silver AT Pro Detecting Find
Published by Tim C. on 08/28/16
A few weeks ago I was at my favorite park...one that's been hunted plenty of times. This day I decided to hit the 'out-of-the-way' places; ones I'd never observed anyone metal detecting in.
I was at the very base of a ten-foot, underbrush-covered rise that separates the park from a golf course when my AT Pro hit on a mid-80s target. Figuring it was a quarter, I started digging, and about six inches deep I saw the edge of a large coin...and extracted my first walking Liberty half-dollar. In addition, also in the hole was a 1960 Roosevelt dime and a 1942 Jefferson nickel. Quite a haul for a 3-year detectorist!
What made this find very special is that I recovered these coins exactly a year to the day that I had half a kidney removed due to renal carcinoma. Now free of cancer, I'm out metal detecting every chance I get.
