<p><strong>I have been metal detecting since the 1980s, and I really enjoy this great hobby.</strong> I have three White's metal detectors; a Spectra V3i, IDX Pro, and Coinmaster. I use the V3i the most, but I still use the IDX Pro sometimes. I have found Civil War artifacts, when I wasn't really looking for them. Now, I try to research places in the area where I live in North West Tennessee, for Civil War sites where skirmishes had taken place.</p> <p>One of my favorite finds, is a United Confederate Veterans medal. I found it about six years ago, at an old homeplace, near a big pecan tree. I found it with the IDX Pro. It has Robert E. Lee on it, with crossed flags and crescent moon. It was right next to the tree, down about six inches in the ground. I had no idea that I would ever find something like that in that yard. That's what I like about this hobby, you never know what you are going to dig up.</p>
