Wondering How I Will Top This?

The start of my second season with my E-TRAC brought hopes of exciting finds. We're lucky to hunt seven months a year with the snowy and frozen Ohio weather so I was anxious to get out and start detecting.

It was a beautiful June morning, 75 degrees and sunny. I decided to hunt a particular place in a local park that I had been playing in since I was a young child. It's a large urban park, around one hundred years old, and well hunted by many previous metal detectors. The grassy field I was hunting was not providing much, only clad and one wheat penny. I than moved over to an old parking area, which was very trashy sounding. I was swinging my 11-inch coil slowly, trying to hear that crisp, clear silver sound.

All of a sudden there it was, light but very distinguishable. I cut a nice plug with my shovel, pulled back the earth, and I could see the nice thick silver rim of a coin. I pulled the dirt-covered object out of the hole, carefully brushing it off and wondering what it could possibly be. A few people in the park could probably hear my loud exclamation of "woo-hoo" as I found it to be an 1876 seated liberty half-dollar. This coin had no wear on it and was in fabulous condition.

This has been my best find yet with my E-TRAC and I am wondering how I will top it but with such a fine machine I know that someday I will!
