My name is Gary J. Penta, and I am a 23-year retired military veteran enjoying life in beautiful central Florida. When it comes to treasure hunting I pretty much do it all. I am an avid metal detectorist, certified SCUBA diver, and a RingFinder. I currently use the Minelab ETRAC with a Detech 8" x 6" SEF search coil as my primary land and beach detecting machine and an Equinox 800 with a 6” coil as my backup. When I am not detecting on dry land, I can be found treasure salvage diving off the east coast of Florida on 1715 Spanish wreck sites. I also dive on the Gulf side of Florida for 6 million year old Megalodon teeth and other ancient marine fossils. I use several different underwater detectors for treasure salvage including the Aquascan Aquapulse AQ1B, the Minelab Excalibur II, and the Nokta Makro PulseDive Scuba Detector with 8” search coil. Besides detecting and diving I also enjoy building miniature metal detectors and treasure hunting/detecting themed dioramas. I find it very rewarding and I genuinely appreciate the positive feedback from our community.
