I found this canteen in shallow water after the Spring rains. Found on private property near a famous Tennessee battlefield. I have been hunting since 1979. Although this item was near the battlefield, I have every reason to suspect that it was thrown into the river and used for target practice. I decided to leave the concretion on the surface, though it would clean down to a silver color. Also, three weeks ago, I found a 10 lb Parrott case-shot shell fired from the 4th Indiana Artillery unit. It was in about 9 feet of water. One side is mint and the other bears impact marks where it hit the the ground before bouncing into the river. Kellyco has supplied all of my detectors over the years.
