Our team at Kellyco had the opportunity to test out the brand new Nokta Makro Simplex last week and we were surprised at how easy it was to use. Without adjusting any of the settings, we took it out of the box, turned it on, plugged in the headphones, and started detecting.

Nokta Makro Simplex Review

I personally tested the Simplex at a park where I have detected for three years. I’ve tested all our machines there and I didn’t expect to find much. The site is very trashy, so being able to walk on a target in this park is really hard.

Usually, in places like this, you need a small coil so that you don’t hit multiple targets at once. The Simplex coil is 11” so my expectations were low, but it did really well. As I swung the detector, I was able to clearly hear repeated signals between trash. I didn’t even have to use the pinpoint function because it was that easy to pinpoint without it. (I pushed it once to see if it worked, and it did.)

Metal Detecting Finds with the Simplex

I found a wheat penny, a railroad spike, and a brass buckle from the early 20th century. That buckle was buried 8 inches down. I heard the tone and knew I had something good before I started to dig.

I was out with two other members of the Kellyco team who were using different, higher-end metal detectors, and I found more than they did.

The Simplex gave no false signals. If it said something was there, something was there. One of the big pluses to me was the fact that it was lightweight and well-balanced. I have tendonitis in my elbow and swinging a detector for hours hurts, but after detecting for 3.5 hours, I had no issues whatsoever.

The Nokta Makro Simplex features four search modes: all-metal, field, park, and beach. I was using it in field mode because I preferred the way it sounded better, and where I was hunting was really just a big field. The digital identification made it easy to see what I was going to find. The tones are perfect for beginners and similar to the machine that I started detecting on.

It’s basic, but this metal detector is an overachiever!
