The sturdy construction of this device is built to take the rigors of ocean and sea metal detecting while being comfortable to use with a mounted hip and a long stem. In fact, the Sea Hunter Mark II is the only Pulse Induction metal detector that can disregard the appearance of pull tabs, foil, mineralized ballast stone and some iron while still being overtly sensitive to coins and rings. It eliminates trash by using through Standard BI discrimination and Garrett's exclusive Discrete Trash Elimination Mode.

The graph depicted to the left displays the typical responses from metals in both trash elimination modes. Setting the Sea Hunter Mark II to a discrimination setting of eight, all metals above Nickels in Standard (Std) mode and above Pulltabs in Discrete (Dis) mode are detectable. This demonstrates how the enhanced power of the Sea Hunter Mark II rejects and eliminates trash while still being able to detect good targets.
